1. Introduction
Rulio ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Rulio mobile application (the "App"), an AR-powered tape measure and ruler tool. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
By using Rulio, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, and profile information through Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or email registration.
- Measurement Data: Measurements you save are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly choose to export or share them.
- Support Communications: If you contact us for support, we collect the information you provide in your correspondence.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Camera Data: The App requires camera access for AR measurement functionality. Camera data is processed in real-time on your device and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted to any server.
- Sensor Data: Accelerometer and gyroscope data used for the spirit level and measurement features. This data is processed locally and never transmitted.
- Usage Data: App interaction data and feature usage patterns collected through Firebase Analytics. Google Mobile Ads may also process product interactions and diagnostics when ads are enabled.
2.3 Information from Third-Party Services
- Authentication Providers: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information (name, email) as permitted by your settings with those providers.
- Subscription Data: Purchase and subscription status information is managed through RevenueCat and the respective app store (Google Play / Apple App Store).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App's functionality
- Process and manage your account and subscriptions
- Display personalized or non-personalized advertisements to eligible free-tier users, subject to consent and regional requirements
- Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues
- Respond to support and account-deletion requests
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Third-Party Services
We utilize the following third-party services that may collect information:
4.1 Firebase (Google)
Used for authentication and product analytics. Firebase Crashlytics is not included in the current release. Data is processed according to Google's Privacy Policy.
4.2 Google AdMob
Used to display advertisements to free-tier users. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. See Google's Privacy Policy.
4.3 RevenueCat
Used to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
4.4 ARCore (Google) / ARKit (Apple)
Used for augmented reality measurement features. Camera and sensor data processed by these frameworks remains on your device.
💡 Premium users do not see advertisements. If a user upgrades after the advertising SDK has initialized, limited SDK processing may already have occurred during that app session.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your measurement data is stored locally on your device in application storage. We do not have access to your measurement history.
Account and authentication data is securely managed through Firebase with industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) for data in transit.
While we implement commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
6. Data Retention
- Local Data: Measurement history is stored on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
- Analytics and Advertising Data: Retention is controlled by the configured Firebase and Google Mobile Ads settings and their applicable policies.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Opt-out of Ads Personalization: Adjust your device's ad settings or upgrade to Premium
- Data Portability: Export your measurement data (available via the App's export feature)
- Withdraw Consent: Revoke permissions (camera, sensors) through your device settings at any time
Delete your account in Rulio Settings, or use our account deletion page if you no longer have access to the App. For other requests, contact support@rulio.app.
8. Children's Privacy
Rulio is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such information.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in compliance with applicable laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.
10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy within the App and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
